Aims of the Project
The BrainSpin project aims to enhance the health, well-being, and social inclusion of people living with Parkinson’s disease (PD) by introducing table tennis as an innovative sport-based therapeutic intervention. The project combines sports science, neurorehabilitation, and education to create a structured and evidence-based training program that improves motor function, cognitive performance, and quality of life for people with PD.
BrainSpin pursues three main objectives:
Education and capacity building
Train young professionals, sports coaches, physiotherapists, and students to implement adapted table tennis programs for people with Parkinson’s disease through a specialized Train-the-Trainer program.
Implementation of sport-based intervention
Engage people with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers in a structured 6-month table tennis training program designed to improve mobility, balance, coordination, cognitive function, and social interaction.
Long-term sustainability and knowledge transfer
Develop a digital learning platform and open educational resources that will allow professionals, caregivers, and communities across Europe to implement the BrainSpin methodology beyond the project duration.
